Birdsedge is a tiny rural village, set high on the edge of the Yorkshire Pennines in England's rugged north. It has 150 or so houses, about 350 people, a school, a Wesleyan Reform Church, a mill which is a small part of a bigger complex in nearby Denby Dale, one farm shop and no pub. It's part of Kirklees local authority. It's nearest towns are Huddersfield and Barnsley and its nearest cities are Wakefield, Leeds, Sheffield and (just over the Pennines) Manchester. |
